Spanish fashion brand Desigual will showcase its Spring/Summer 2017 collection at the upcoming TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes (Bay Village, Bay Terrace 4).
The brand said the new range reaffirms its “creative evolution” through distinct fabric combinations and animal, botanical and ethnic prints, enhanced with crystals and hand-sewn embroidery.
The collection was inspired by “extraordinary” women, namely global travellers with individual and creative style, Desigual stated.
Desigual said it underlines its “rebellious character” through a college theme. Models have been chosen to represent a society where difference and authenticity are synonymous and make-up is inspired by social media.
“The aesthetic profile of the SS17 Desigual woman is a reflection of her free spirit and a testimony to women’s many voyages through different landscapes with multiple cultures and sites,” Desigual stated.
Comfort is key to the new collection, with silhouettes of flowing fabrics, like tulle, viscose, cotton, lace and silk. Lengths alternate between maxi dresses, featuring crocheted high-collars, and very short skirts, contrasted by trousers and jumpsuits.
Jumpsuit designs echo those worn by “intrepid explorers who dared to take on tropical, urban and virtual jungles”, Desigual said.
The collection mixes techniques of tie-dye on denim, sequined embroidery on camouflage and 3D insect jewels on multicolored ethnic stripes and botanic prints.
Biker and bomber jackets are “essentials”. Biker jackets are in eco-friendly leather in a range of bright colours while bomber jackets feature prints, embroidery, crystal appliqués, beads and patchwork. Long dresses, embroidered or decorated with sheer crochet panels and lace, are also key collection pieces, Desigual stated.
Accessories focus on “preciousness”, according to the brand. The SS17 range includes shoes with many details, earrings, military-inspired beanies and berets, and ethnic-design shoulder bags.
