Delhi Duty Free in exclusive launch of leading Indian single malt

Delhi Duty Free has introduced Rampur single malt whisky to its stores as a channel exclusive. The product, which is only for export, is made at India’s oldest distillery in the foothills of the Himalayas, overseen by Master Blender Anup Barik.

Delhi Duty Free Head Marketing Abhijit Das said: “Exclusivity reins at the duty free shops in Delhi and we have always been conscious of the evolving choice and tastes of our travellers. We are very proud to introduce this popular Indian single malt. It’s a special feeling when you know only you have this product in India. I am convinced this addition will also be a great success.”

Rampur Indian single malt is distilled in traditional copper pot stills and matured at the Rampur distillery, which dates back to 1943. It is bottled without chill-filtration at 43% ABV.

Rampur distillery is the property of Radico Khaitan, one of India’s largest spirits companies, better known for mass-market brands such as 8 PM and Magic Moments.

Delhi Duty Free also noted: “The Rampur region is the home of Urdu poetry, fine cuisine and knife-making (the Rampuri chaku is an Indian knife with a daunting reputation).”

Tasting notes: The nose is claimed to be malty with notes of vanilla, caramel candy, ginger root and brown sugar. The taste features hints of clove, cardamom, and cinnamon spices with vanilla, honey, and ginger notes underneath. The finish is said to be “long and smooth” with lingering spices and a slight dryness.
