Bowmore explores “hidden depths” in Vintner’s Trilogy age statement collection

Beam Suntory has announced the launch of the Bowmore Vintner’s Trilogy of age statement whiskies.

The series has been matured in Bowmore’s No.1 Vaults and features finishes in manzanilla sherry, wine and bourbon casks.

Vintner’s Trilogy: Each of the whiskies in the series has had a secondary maturation period in a wine cask

The Bowmore 18 Year Old Double Matured Manzanilla and the Bowmore 26 Year Old Wine Matured were launched globally in September. The former was matured for the first 13 years in ex-bourbon barrels before spending a further five years in ex-manzanilla sherry barrels, giving it a “rich antique gold colour”.

Bowmore 26 Year Old Wine Matured was also matured in ex-bourbon barrels for 13 years before a second maturation of 13 years in wine barriques, where a “burnt amber colour” developed.

A final 27 Year Old bottling will be released in 2018.

“The Vintner’s Trilogy is a collection of three liquid gold whiskies which have been meticulously matured over time in our No.1 Vaults,” said Bowmore Distillery Manager David Turner. “The unique, sea-buffeted atmosphere inside the oldest Scotch maturation warehouse in the world has created three perfectly balanced whiskies full of flavour, with each whisky offering an individual taste journey through their time maturing in manzanilla sherry, wine, bourbon and Islay malt casks.”

Beam Suntory International Marketing Manager Malts Judith Giegerich added: “For Bowmore, the Vintner’s Trilogy bottlings truly embody the philosophy of Bowmore’s Hidden Depths. The No. 1 Vaults is a treasure trove and we’re proud to be able to release an age statement series, which is premium and collectable.”
