Areas launches Javier de las Muelas with Montesquiu Dry Martini at Barcelona-El Prat

SPAIN. Areas has opened a Javier de las Muelas with Montesquiu and Dry Martini outlet at Barcelona El-Prat, serving tapas, cocktails, Spanish wines and beers and more substantial dishes including the restaurateur’s signature sandwiches.

The site in Terminal 1 is 205sq m and has capacity for 60 people. It features regularly changing photographs and artwork on the walls.

The site also features a takeaway service.

De Las Muelas opened his first cocktail bar, Gimlet, in Barcelona in 1979. He later moved into restaurants by buying the Montesquiu tapas bar and launching Dry Martini.

“An airport is something that goes beyond a logistics transportation mode,” said de las Muelas. “It’s a space you can relax in before going on a trip.”

Areas Director of Airports Spain and Portugal Luis Castilla said: “With this new opening, travellers will be able to enjoy a unique offering.”

Areas operates 2,100 restaurants and points of sale in 14 countries in Europe and the Americas, serving 900,000 customers daily. It posted revenue of €1.8 billion in 2017-2018.

Montesquiu and Dry Martini are well-known brands in Barcelona.
