UK. Ardbeg has unveiled a limited-edition release of the Ardbeg Double Barrel, hailed by the Scotch whisky brand to be its most ambitious and most complex initiative yet.

Inspired by the tradition of a British shooting party, the Ardbeg Double Barrel presents two bottles from different single casks of 1974 Ardbeg in a handmade bespoke leather gun case.
Only 250 cases are available, two of which are being premiered at Singapore Changi Airport Terminal 3, courtesy of Moët Hennessy Asia Pacific. Each case retails at S$31,620 (US$23,190) in DFS’s main Departures shop.

The hand-blown single cask bottles have “˜A’ and “˜1974′ embossed into the glass, and are wax sealed with the individual cask number. The bottles lie on their side in opposing positions.
The hand-stitched bridle leather case is made in the UK by the same craftsmen who make gun cases for the world’s best gunsmiths (Purdey, Beretta and Boss), according to Ardbeg. Each case is made to the same dimensions as a double-barrel gun case.
Each leather case will be numbered on the inner edge and protected with a key.

The single cask bottles are accompanied by eight sterling silver (hallmarked) drinking cups, created in partnership with one of Scotland’s leading silversmiths, Hamilton & Inches. They are numbered 1 to 8 to mirror the “˜pegs’ drawn for a place to stand on a traditional shoot, said Ardbeg.
Besides the two single cask bottles and silver drinking cups, the case also contains a bespoke oak and sterling silver Omas pen. Each pen is engraved with the Ardbeg “˜A’ on the silver barrel and the Ardbeg knotwork on the clip. The pen’s outer barrel is made of mature oak.
Each case also contains two hand-stitched leather-bound books – a ‘Sampling Register’ with full tasting notes of the 1974 cask bottlings, and “˜The Ardbeg Double Barrel’ story containing anecdotes about Ardbeg and stories about luxury country life.
