Lounge 2, Schiphol
Lofty ambition: Schiphol Group said it expected the new lounge to help deliver a +10-15% uplift in commercial sales

Schiphol Group’s aim was to bring a ‘human scale’ to the project and the company has developed seven distinct ‘worlds’ across the lounge space. These are: See Buy Fly, Family, Wellness, Travel & Culture, Luxury, Fashion & Lifestyle and Modern Dutch.

The company invested €50 million in the lounge, which has added around +20% more space for retail and dining. It has extended the floor space in Lounge 2 Departures to around 16,000sq m over two levels.

Schiphol Group Executive Vice President & Chief Commercial Officer André van den Berg said: “To mark Schiphol’s 100th anniversary, we are presenting our passengers with a marvellous gift: a departure lounge unlike any other in the world, where passengers can explore not just one, but seven different worlds.

“Working with our partners, we have been able to create a unique experience in a limited space. This departure lounge truly puts the passenger centre stage. It’s a place to start or continue your journey with a smile on your face, and I’m very proud of it.”
