AENA commercial revenue surges +11.7% in first half of 2017

SPAIN. Airport operator AENA recorded a +11.7% year-on-year increase in commercial revenues in the first half of 2017. The final amount was €482.7 million, representing 25.9% of the company’s total.

AENA suffered a -6.4% decrease in net profit, to €460.9 million. Consolidated total revenues increased to €1,861.6 million, a +7.5% increase.

Passenger traffic in the Aena network in Spain amounted to 113.4 million, a +9.1% increase.

Aena achieved a gross operating profit (EBITDA) of €1,054.3 million in the first six months of 2017, +13.2% more than between January and June 2016.

Net income stood at €460.9 million, a +36.1% increase, excluding extraordinary effects. AENA said these effects refer to the extraordinary positive impact in 2016 of reversals of provisions for legal proceedings related to expropriation of land at Adolfo Suárez Madrid Barajas Airport, which amounted to €204.9 million euros before taxes.

AENA said London Luton Airport contributed €97.6 million in commercial revenue in the first half of 2017.
